In our dental office we have a very predictable system to treat tooth wear.

The treatment of tooth wear is a very important medical treatment.

Tooth wear is likely to cause the following:

  1. the tendency to break teeth
  2. heightened sensitivity of the teeth
  3. problems opening and closing the mouth
  4. infection in the jaw joint
  5. ear pain
  6. Headaches and migraines
  7. Problems with balance and stability

All these are likely to lead to a significant decrease in one’s quality of life, an increase in the sensation of pain in other parts of the body, and a decrease in the ability of memory and concentration, chronic tiredness, etc.

Want to know if you grind your teeth? The photo above is a classic picture of the mechanical wear (teeth grinding) of the teeth. You can see that the patient’s teeth in the picture have lost their regular appearance and are shorter than normal. One can see that this shows a distorted smile. A healthy and intact smile would be more rounded, as outlined by the yellow line.

First, an evaluation is made of the degree of seriousness of the teeth wear and its cause.   It’s important to distinguish between two main causes of tooth wear:  mechanical wear (- tooth grinding) as opposed to erosion that occurs because of acid.

You can see that the patient’s teeth in the picture have lost their regular appearance and are shorter than normal. In addition, the edges of the teeth appear sharpened and quite different from the normal appearance of healthy teeth.

In both instances, the treatment requires restoration of the affected teeth. In most cases, restoration of the teeth is carried out with the goal of restoring the patient's ability to chew properly, talk properly and also restore the esthetics.  Treatment outcome aims to the patient back their beautiful smile and pleasant appearance.
